I left school at 16 and orginally started out as an avonic`s engineer by securing a position on a MOD apprenticeship at Boscombe Down. After completion I was employed as a Senior Craftsman in the AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile) department testing missiles!
This all sounds rather exciting but it wasn`t! After a couple of years I decided to learn software development as this was something I was always interested in from a young age. I Starting off with web sites and markup and progressing via PHP to ASP(classic), vbScript and SQL I taught myself from books, the internet and a lot of trail and error. In 2009 I become a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist.
For the last 12 years I have been running my own businesses, living the dream! First up was CrystalNet (www.crystal-net.co.uk) which I co owned with my good friend Mark. Then after a few years I wanted to go it alone and started up Sourcewrite which was successful for 8 years.
Today I am a freelance developer and work for some of the largest companies in the UK delivering massive cost savings in a world where budgets just keep getting smaller. I have very low overheads and I can deliver end to end systems including;
- pre-sales support
- proof of concept
- specification prep
- design and planning
- actual development
- front end screen design
- testing & deployment
- support & transition
I have really learnt to thrive under pressure and I enjoy making the difference when tight deliverables need to be achieved. I take pride in all projects and enjoy working closely with customers at all levels to ensure that requirements are fulfilled at every stage of development and are delivered to specification, on time and within budget.
My company is fully insured as is a legal requirement for many IT contractors these days.
